Following disassembly, core components including the cylinder heads, camshaft housings, pistons, and cylinders were subjected to wet-blasting for a deep, forensic cleaning. This allowed for precise inspections and blueprint measurements. Timing chain alignment and valve timing were rigorously calibrated to factory tolerances.

The cylinder heads received all-new exhaust valve guides, along with valve seat cutting and valve lapping. In addition, critical internals—such as the piston rings, intermediate shaft bearings, oil pump, timing chains, and guide rails—were replaced to completely rejuvenate the heart of this air-cooled Porsche.

To ensure long-term reliability and eliminate any potential leaks, the oiling system was upgraded with new oil-tank-to-engine connecting hoses, breather hoses, and an oil level sender. The fuel system also received an extensive overhaul: the fuel pump, fuel level sender, tank hoses, return lines, and fuel injection rail lines were all replaced from the tank through to the engine bay, minimizing any risks of leakage or delivery drop-off.
