The engine was rebuilt to ensure the safe and enjoyable driving experience that an air-cooled Porsche is known for. Major components, including the cylinder head, pistons, and camshaft housing, were wet-blasted and thoroughly inspected. Proper clearance management and valve timing adjustments were performed to restore the engine to its full potential.
Piston rings, chain guide rails, various gaskets, valve guides, and even head stud bolts were replaced where necessary, fundamentally improving combustion efficiency and reducing the risk of oil leaks. Hoses around the oil cooler and oil tank were also replaced, eliminating the risk of problems caused by aging.
The fuel system, including the fuel tank, was also completely refreshed. Even the center fuel line and hoses in the engine bay were replaced with new ones, ensuring a stable fuel supply. The ignition system also included a new distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs, servicing all three elements of the engine: combustion, lubrication, and ignition.
